NEWS FROM AGLOW IN UKRAINE - July 2009

Great things are happening in the Aglow ministry in Ukraine – a recent report brings exciting news of what God is doing in the prison

Isaiah 61…He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound”

Five outreach meetings have been held in Odessa Women’s Prison during April – June 2009.  At the last one on 28th June – over 500 women packed into a large hall where a professional ballet group brought a performance called “My Dream” - a beautiful story of how God can change the life of a sinner into a new life and the dreams from childhood can come true because of God’s mercy.  A question was asked at the end “who has a dream and wants to have their lives to be changed?”  Almost all the women responded and raised their hands and prayed with tears in their eyes.

A similar meeting was held at the Men’s Prison in Odessa, with many also responding.

Irina who leads the professional ballet group, is an ex prisoner who now visits different prisons.  She is so thankful to the Aglow ladies who came to the Prison 10 years ago when she was an inmate in Odessa Women’s Prison.  They shared about God’s love and mercy and she made a decision to serve the Lord in the same way - as a result Irina and her husband now visit different prisons with this life changing message through dance and song.

WATER BAPTISMS IN ODESSA WOMEN’S PRISON - 13 women were baptised on 19 June, small gifts were given – books, liquid soap, biscuits, greeting cards.

AGLOW CONFERENCE IN KRASNOARMEYSK – 150 ladies attended the conference on 12 – 13 June, when Helena and Lidiya, leaders on the Aglow National Committee, and Olga from Zaporozhje, gave challenging messages and brought vision of the worldwide ministry of Aglow International.  Wonderful reports were given from the ladies who work with children in orphanages, schools and with elderly people in hospices and hospitals.

Pray for:
Ø    Helena and Lidiya as they continue to expand the work and bring vision and encouragement to the     women of Ukraine
Ø    Lyudmila to be healed – she is an ex prisoner who is in hospital, and is getting baptised on 16th August.
