PRISON MINISTRY
“…For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was in prison and you visited Me…”
Matthew 25 v 34 - 44
In 1999 Betty Burke & Emiola Olajide prayer walked around Holloway Prison for two years - then in
2001 – God opened the door for Aglow Women to have access. In 2003 Emiola and Betty were given permission to enter and visit women in Send Prison at Woking.
This ministry has grown and now across the nation Aglow has access to visit more than six prisons and more Aglow Groups have found the doors of the women’s prison opened so that they go in and visit the women and show the love of God to them in simple and practical ways
> Sending birthday and Christmas cards with scripture texts in them
> Visiting those who have no visitors or whose family live afar off
> Holding Alpha and Bible Study groups
> Helping those who have been released with clothing or guiding them to churches and Aglow meetings
Prayer Pointers
> Record numbers of women turning to crime, therefore many Men’s prisons are being changed to Women’s Prisons
> Opportunities for more Aglow women to join the existing teams
> Support in Prayer – if you can’t visit you can support in prayer those who do
