Love to the starving looks like food; love to the rejected looks like acceptance
Aglow in Launceston is taking on a whole new look!
Jesus used the stories of his generation and turned them into the parables for the people. Faith and love must look like something; love to the starving looks like food; love to the rejected looks like acceptance. We looked at our communities needs and decided to meet those needs with what most would “be” relevant love to them.
We run several monthly initiatives where, rather than serve an already well resourced church body, the church body is the resource to serve the community in which we live.
1 Mums of Fascinating Kids / coffee morning drop~ins and pamper evenings
This supports local families with autistic spectrum issues, mental health and disabled children. We network across the agencies and signpost out to resources, sharing valuable information with each other but most of all, sharing and doing life together.

2 Beauty 4 Ashes
This is aimed at teens to 30 year olds, mostly girls, using the arts of media, singing, music, dance, drama, and jewelry and fashion workshops to enhance their lives. Girls become reconciled to being female in a modern “image is all” world and we encounter issues on self image, sexuality, self harm, eating disorders, peer pressure etc head on, to help empower youth to see themselves differently as “fearfully and wonderfully made “ and with a “worth and destiny”. Beauty for Ashes has now developed to a 6 week workshop in singing, culminating in a recording session at Live~ wire Saltash, thanks to Andy and Julie! Steffi is our vocal coach, and boy do we have some fun!

These monthly gaming evenings are for the GUYS! Cross generational fun, gaming nights where Granddads, Fathers and Sons can access team building, confidence, trust building activities to help turn the “hearts of the sons to the fathers and the fathers to the sons” it’s Dad’s and lads night! This is about men finding their place in a modern world also. We encourage their “wild at heart” side to prosper in a healthy, fun way.

4 Worship Waterfalls
Occasionally we will be inspired to do one off themed nights or exhibitions, using dance, drama, multi media events with a specific message. ALSO Intercession evenings for the mature. We hold deeply moving events on themes like, forgiveness, self harm, sexuality…..etc. we explore deep issues in a creative way such as our recent outreach “masks” looking at the masks women wear through life and how to be real.
Let’s empower the next generation to live life in abundance!
