Since 1995 leaders from Aglow International (Britain) have made pioneering trips into Eastern Europe. The leadership of Aglow in Britain has been given the privilege of oversight of Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova and Romania. This means that we have taken on the financial and practical responsibility to release the vision of the ministry into these nations until they are able to take that responsibility for themselves. To achieve this, teams of ladies have traveled extensively over the past 14 years to meet with church leaders, Bishops, pastors and groups of ladies to share the vision of this ministry, arranging and speaking at conferences, carrying out leadership training and encouraging the ladies of each nation to step out in their gifting to serve God.
We have established National and Regional leaders in these nations, as well as local groups who provide opportunity for Evangelism, Bible Study, Prayer, Teaching and Practical serving within the local communities.
In addition, Aglow International in Britain financially sponsors a Women’s Prison ministry in the Ukraine and a Children’s Feeding programme in Belarus.
We had a great time meeting with Marina from Moldova, and Helena and Lydia from Ukraine along with a representative from Aglow in Romania as part of our European Leaders Summit in Basel, Switzerland in January 2010 where we had the opportunity to hear first hand what God is doing through this ministry in their nations. **Introducing... Short Term Missions**
Imagine the possibilities... Opportunities to touch another life... A chance to make a real difference... Experience another culture... Develop new relationships with Aglow women in other nations...
Aglow International Britain has the awesome privilege of looking after 4 Eastern European nations; Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus and Moldova. We are developing a new initiative to reach out with practical help, financial support, spiritual encouragement, and relationship and partnership.
The purpose of these STMs are:
- To establish and develop relationships
- To improve the quality of life of vulnerable people
- - To support the work of indigenous people with humanitarian focus
- - To support the work of indigenous people with evangelistic focus
- - To develop a missions base within Aglow Britain
- - To raise the profile of Aglow in that nation
- - To raise the profile of that nation in Aglow Britain
As we step into this new initiative, we ask you to pray as we seek God’s strategy for a missions base, as well as for every specific trip. We desire more than anything to hear God and to understand His purposes for each trip, for each woman, for each life we come across. We seek to know who to partner with, how to support, and how to see the work of Aglow develop more and more in each nation.
Our very first STM is being launched on September 5th 2010, into the West of Romania. 8 women from Aglow in Britain are travelling to Romania and will be meeting with existing leaders, visiting an abortion centre, an elderly people’s refuge, and an orphanage, as well as being involved in street evangelism and holding testimony and evangelistic meetings! Your prayers are invaluable and your support so appreciated as we break new ground!
